Horizontal Nest-Box

Matching Nest-box design to wildlife

Nest-boxes are a way of supplementing the acute accommodation shortfall for native wildlife in the suburbs, without necessarily having to share your own home with them. Very few designer birdhouses, as sold by garden centres, meet the needs of wildlife, with many designs falling into the broad category of folie de jardin. Too many commercially available nest-boxes are simply copies of old English or European designs and have little relevance to Australian species. Quite often they only support English or European fauna, now feral in Australia.
