Ipswich Home Gardener’s Expo 2010
Well the event was on the other day (Saturday 28th Aug 2010) and the overall reaction by the public was positive. People are definitely interested in buying plants and all is looking great for the coming months with recent good rains in South East Queensland.
2010 attendance was 1240 adults (plus chidren) – 50% more than 2009. People came from Brisbane, Stanthorpe, Pittsworth, Warwick, Caloundra, Boonah, Laidley, Bribie Island, Cleveland – these are just a few locations.
Summary of 2010 event:-
- 60 exhibitors.
- 5 presentations (guest speakers) – including Paul Plant, Editor of subTropical Gardening.
- free music entertainment.
- freshly cooked food on site plus plenty of cakes (yummy).
Here is a sample video (a snapshot) of the inside section at the event. The outside area was too busy!
Of interest is the fact that this is a gardening event…not full of non-garden related items. However one garden tool that did strike my attaction was the Krem-Claw that is made for elderly gardeners, and those who do not like picking up leaves. This may also be a good garden implement for people with sciatica. It’s pretty simple how it works - rake, mound, grab + deposit.
To find out more about the Krem-Klaw, phone 0402 622 793 or (07) 3281 0490.
Overall this as a very good gardening event. Not too big – the intimate size made walking around the event easy and there was no waste of time getting from one exhibitor to another. This allows keen gardeners to ask direct questions to the growers/sellers. Talks were limited to only one hall so there was only one talk at a time making this ideal for both exhibitors and the public.
Next year dates: Sat 27th August 2011 – PUT THIS IN YOUR CALENDAR FOR 2011.
