Where to install
The less opportunistic the wildlife species tends to be, the more critical the location of the nest-box and its proximity to a secure water source.

How to mount
An ongoing debate rages as to the correct method of fixing a nest-box to a living tree. The ideal solution is not to have to use a nest-box at all. However given the past, present and proposed future clearing of old trees and the systematic removal of hollow branches in parks and gardens, this is no longer an option.

Natural Predators
Being eaten is just part of the natural food-chain process. Native predators (such as Goannas and Kookaburras) should not be excluded from using nest-boxes unless they are a threat to a vulnerable or endangered species or are unbalancing the otherwise natural processes.
