Banksias
of the tropics and subtropics
may not be quite as spectacular
as some of their Western Australian
counterparts but their long
autumn and winter flowering
season provides welcome colour
at that time of the year. Above
all they are adapted to our
wet, humid summers and are likely
to grow quite well without special
treatment. Those from WA are
adapted to a reverse regime
of winter rainfall and very
dry summers and are susceptible
to root rot fungi on the east
coast.
